Eider ducks

Day 3. Woke up and my sinuses were sore and by lunchtime I had a full blown cold, typical. This morning was a long and boring briefing on what to do if you see a polar bear and how to get into and out of a zodiac. After that it was a 2 hour crise in the zodiacs around the head of the fjord near Smeerenburg. Lots of Eider ducks, king Eider ducks and then halfway through a small pod of Baluga whales were near the shoreline, you only go to see their backs but it was nice knowing they were around. Came back onboard cold, with a headache and ready for lunch. Afternoon was another zodiac cruse at Virgo Hamna and we had a quick glimpse of a walrus in the distance, we were checked out by a couple of harbor seals. There were some bear tracks in the snow on the hills along the shore but we didn’t see any bears. Had dinner and played out polar bear game before getting an early night feeling crap.
