I usually put off the replacement of drivetrain components for as long as possible, sometimes even ekeing old ones out for an extra winter, but the combined skippiness of the chain/sprockets and decrepitude of the lever raised the priority. Fortunately, I didn't have to feck with the outers or bar tape or even replace the inner cable, and the rear mech seems to have withstood another year's salt/grit and roadslime.
