Happy birthday
It’s Martin’s 60th birthday today, which we celebrated with afternoon tea at Carberry Tower Mansion House and Estate (10 minutes up the road). It was a lovely, with beautiful sandwiches, scones and cakes, although, perhaps a few too many, some of which we ended up bringing home.
The Mansion House has a lot of history, including more recently, the last owner being Lord Elphinstone, who was married to Mary Bowes-Lyon, the sister of the late Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon.
Elizabeth, her husband, King George VI and the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret used to visit the house regularly and there are photos of them playing in the gardens.
All in all, a lovely time was had especially by the birthday lad. Looking back in Blip, it turns out that we celebrated Martin’s 50th birthday with afternoon tea too.
I hope you have had a good day.
