Cagliari with the Storm Clouds
We took the train back to Cagliari this morning, to catch our flight on Tuesday.
Rain had been forecast for a couple days, but had so far not materialised. When we climbed the hill though, we saw the storm clouds and heard the thunder. I thought I had caught glimpses of lightning, but it could have equally been headlights through railings.
Unfortunately, the museum we sought was closed on Mondays, so we took shelter in Caffe Antiquo in the shadow of the Bastione San Remy before the fat raindrops started. Normally that means a deluge is imminent, but that didn't seem to be the case. So after a couple Ichnusas to be on the safe side, we braved the drops to pick up some souvenir tat. Literally within seconds of the rain starting there were folk out on the streets selling umbrellas, but we took our chances and ended up not needing one anyway.
After an hour or so we headed back to the hotel (another quaint and beautiful and wholly satisfactory one - B&B Farfalle) to get ready to go out for dinner and a couple of drinks in giro at the Piazza San Sepolcro to say goodbye to Cagliari, Sardinia and not having to work (apart from the boyfriend the maths teacher, who has several weeks off ahead of him).
What a lovely place and a lovely holiday.
