Went to Birmingham in the train with JR. Felt I had to take the usual photo of the bull at New Street station. Apparently he is waiting to be repaired so no animatronics. We had brunch when we arrived , did a bit of shopping for a dress for a wedding for J - successful at the first shop!- and then walked down to the back to back houses (National Trust) which were the purpose of our visit. There were three houses which had been restored and furnished, one left in the condition they were found in when handed over to the NT, and one shop ( a bespoke tailor). Usual NT stuff, quite interesting but the guide could have been better. We had tea and cake when we came out, easily got seats in the commuter train home and just got in the door when the first rain of the day came(only a shower though).
