Volcanic outcrop
The village perches on a basalt, volcanic outcrop and over the last 200,000 years has been sculpted by the rivers passing beneath. We did some shopping in Olot and got lost as the satnav was not coping with the directions. We accidentally strayed into the narrow streets of the historic centre. I hope we will not receive a fine as there were some notices around about certain areas being restricted and protected by surveillance cameras. Eventually, we found the supermarket and the multi story car park. I noticed a €300 fine for not getting the correct ticket from the supermarket. Fortunately a very helpful parking attendant walked us down to the available space and explained the two ticket system at the machine. He was amazingly helpful and spoke French, English, Catalan and no doubt Spanish as well. The apartment is spacious and has an amazing view over the valley. Our place is just behind the church in the photo. In the afternoon, we walked down the remains of the Roman road to the river.
