Wednesday
The Current Mrs Creel prepares for her expedition, with her pals, to Roseness. We have just returned from yet another sojourn in Hoy. I cut the grass / put washing out / prepared the tea etc. As a special treat we even weighed ourselves. Despite the distinct lack of sunshine we are surprised how the borders have fared (extra). We have spoken to Martin and Jackie today who stay near Lauder. When we stayed in Aberdeenshire, we would see them quite regularly but the Pentland Firth put a stop to that. However they are coming a stay in August. CMC reminded me of the following. It happened in Melrose, or Gala, many years ago. We went for messages. Martin and me have spent very little time over the years thinking aboot claes. The words ‘fashion’ and ‘trend’ had been removed from our dictionaries. Our managers noticed there was a ‘special’ sale in a shop of Men’s Clothing. We were pushed inside and told to come out with something new. Inside the room, which must have been hired for the day, was a rope with a large blanket over it to get changed behind. We grabbed a few things and went to try them on. Just a for a hoot I suggested to Martin we should totally swap what we were wearing when we went in to see if Jackie / CMC would notice. We are the same size height etc. No-one can remember whether we bought anything. But Martin and me thought it was a real hoot that we’d emerged as each other. However when we went for lunch everyone can remember what happened (even the café staff). We had a great lunch. It was Martin’s turn to pay. He put his hand in his jacket, pulled out my wallet and paid with my money. I had to be restrained. The ladies thought it was hilarious. So did the staff. I’m still in therapy.
