Caterpillar Dreaming
I took a shot of the sunset this evening, but Tharrarletneme (Annie Meyers Hill) was more representative of the day. We passed it each time we went to and from the town centre in Alice Springs. This morning we took the riverside path to Olive Pink Botanical Gardens and climbed the hill. Black-footed rock wallabies, easily spotted standing sentinel from below, were elusive once we reached the top. There’s one looking the other way in the second extra. Another bounded past.
An information panel explains that the hill is a sacred site associated with Caterpillar Dreaming, the ancestral spirits that created the landforms around Alice Springs.
Our small group tour ended in Alice Springs yesterday evening. We’re now in Darwin, arriving just in time to wander down to Mindil Beach to watch the sunset.
Thanks for hosting Ingeborg.
