Braid Burn At Covenanters Wood
A cloudy and cool day. A 2 hour medical appointment in the morning so it is good that I am off work.
After lunch, partner and I head to Dreghorn, or Covenanters, Wood. Fairly close to the house we walk there. A couple of very light rain showers. The wood is next to Redford Barracks, and we follow the path along the boundary fence. I have attached a photo of the notice board with map showing the many historic points of interest, Extra 1 (which means I won't bore you with the individual aspects of the wood). Favourite bits are the old WW1 practice trenches and the Prince of Siam's Tree. The blip photo was taken from Dreghorn Bridge, and shows the Braid Burn and the woods, with one of many tall pine trees found here. After a walk to a nearby supermarket to get some occasional groceries. Thankfully there is also a café, so we had a nice cup of coffee and a wee bit to eat. Unfortunately we cannot buy the occasional groceries because the freezers in which they were located have broken down.
