Simmer Dim Rally 2024

A lovely morning, good sunny spells.  Cloudy up north in the afternoon, but a sunny evening.  Fairly breezy all day, warmer too.  Longest day today.  Good to see some sunshine, but not the 19 hours we could have had.

Up early, washing on and headed out walkies.  Popped by Madeline's for a cuppa.  House chores done and nipped into Lerwick.  Me and Sammy headed north for walkies in the afternoon.  SiL Ruth popped along this evening, great to see her and a catchup.  Last walkies of the day, then early to bed, missing that long day!

The longest day, we call it the Simmer Dim, which stretches over this mid summer nights.  It also when our local bikers gather for their Simmer Dim rally, with hundreds arriving from south and beyond.  It's really just a fancy dress party for the middle aged office worker, and the dress code hasn't changed in 40 odd years.  A lot of drinking and partying ahead for them.  Last night was the first arrivals, more today and the official nights on Friday and Saturday.  Hope the weather improves, wouldn't have been fun last night.  Looking over cousin Peter Brown's house, and his now campsite croft, one of three campsites, up to the hall and marquee.  Taken at Twartburns, Ollaberry.
