Upstream of the Taylor Dam.
A bright sunny day after a light overnight shower. Late morning I went to the Wairau Hospital Lab for some blood tests. Afterwards I sidetracked to the Taylor Dam. The outlet from the lake into the Upper Taylor River has been re-engineered recently. A new culvert has been put in and looks to be working well. When the river rises to almost flood level the water is washed back through the culvert into the lake. That body of water was built as a flood retention lake. Over the years it has saved Blenheim from severe flooding downstream.
