Shrinking
I have a sense of déjà vu these days because I’m constantly having to make allowances for the fact that I’m getting shorter. I went through this with my mother, who used to ask me to bring things down from the top shelves in the kitchen because she could no longer reach them, and I had to take her winter coat to the tailor’s to be shortened. (I wanted it done properly!)
So now it’s my turn. I love this tiered skirt, but it’s in danger of tripping me up when I go downstairs so I’ve taken it up a couple of inches. My tailor’s dummy has been wearing it for some weeks (looking a bit risqué with nothing on her top half!) but I really needed to get the job done today because it is forecast to get much warmer in the next few days and I’m looking forward to wearing it. It's now sitting on the little table that my two youngest granddaughters sit at when they eat their tea here – it's right next to my chair in the family room and I find it very useful!
