Bakewell Tart
Bakewell tart with warm custard.
Today was our last full day on the narrowboat, and we had a fairly short distance to cover to get back to the marina. We had a more languorous pub lunch and indulged in dessert. I have heard of bakewell tarts, but I have never had one nor did I know exactly what it was. It turns out it is something I enjoy immensely (I love almond desserts). This was at the Horse and Jockey in Grindley Brook which we enjoyed earlier this week going up the canal. We had planned on trying a different pub further on, but the canals are much busier weekends and it took us rather longer to complete a lock staircase than it did last Monday
