Mary Poppins

Today was the village open garden day and this year a new feature, scarecrows.  The gardens and the scarecrows were two seperate ideas but by coincidence there were 17 gardens open and 17 scarecrows.  Not as the numbers might suggest each garden hiving a scarecrow, in general it was one or the other.   £1000 was raised, including coffee and cake in the village hall, it is being split between the hall and the church.

Mary Poppins was in my opinion the most impressive of the scarecrows we saw, coffee and conversation limited our walking about time.  She was in mid air hanging from a line running between the lamp post and the house.  A finishing touch was the sound track of the film playing quietly from a hidden speaker.
