Business Park

My hosts house is on an estate built within the former grounds of Newbattle abbey, with some remnant stone walls which are really attractive features. I am interested in the context, so late afternoon I walked from the house down the road to the abbey buildings and grounds which are now in residential educational use and very attractive. There is an associated business park, with an eclectic mix of little businesses occupying buildings which were constructed in the grounds for military use during WW2. An area of open land is a sea of ox- eye daisies, maybe a demonstration project of what can be achieved through no mow May and June ?

Prior to that we had a trip into West Lothian. The three bridges across the Firth of Forth, Hopetoun House gardens, Linlithgow Palace (extras) the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, and the fascinating huge and distinctive oil shale spoil heaps. There’s a lot to explore.
