Thought I had recognised this fine vessel.
Went for a wander on Swansea beach before meeting up with a couple of friends for a sociable lunch. Decided not to take my drone or my big camera out, which I soon regretted when I realised what was on the horizon. After saying to Rosemary that thought I recognised this ship, a quick check on a maritime AIS tracker confirmed what I thought…. It was indeed the PS Waverley, the last seagoing paddle steamer in the world. Built in 1947, this has since been restored to its original appearance and now operates passenger trips around the UK. Today’s trip was Swansea to Avonmouth.
On reflection, maybe I should have brought the drone, so I could fly over for a closer look, but this will do - for now.
