Glacier
Day 11. Woke up next to a large glacier this morning at Recherchefjorden and headed out to the beach in front of it for a perimeter walk after breakfast. Had a great 2 ½ hours walking around the beach. Lots of turns and gulls around and a seal in the lagoon in front of the glacier. We missed the arctic fox and reindeer unfortunately as we were on the other side of the beach. Nice to walk around to take in the scenery until the Chinese got off the boat and started talking and putting up drones. Drones didn’t last long till they were told to bring them down with all the birds around, still think they should have shot one out of the sky to make the point. Had a nice talk to one of the guides on the way back. We headed out of the fjord after lunch and the wind picked up so the afternoon landing was cancelled, which was a shame as we were due to go to a trappers hut with a load of Baluga bones and some other artifacts from the whaling days. Spent the afternoon catching up on photos from last nights whales and this morning’s landing. Storm started to come in during the afternoon, so they decided to have happy hour in the bar. Enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and those along with a seasick tablet seemed to help, there were also quite a few less at dinner as a result.
