Our friends wanted a walk among the Pentlands so we set off in sunshine equipped for a hot walk from Flotterstone up the waterworks road to Loganlea Reservoir. The sun soon disappeared as we passed the fishing boats at Glencorse Reservoir but it made for a pleasant temperature for walking We saw many sheep and some looked uncomfortable with their fleeces half hanging off, contrasting to their woolly lambs, some of which were paddling and drinking in the stream. A mallard was escorting her ducklings down the stream and J said that it was delightful seeing and hearing the sound of running water which is very rare in their home area of Cambridgeshire. We watched fish jumping as we sat eating a picnic at Loganlea then noting the time and forecast we returned to the car. The first few drops started to fall and by the time we left our friends, the rain was very heavy and the temperature had fallen to 14c by 5pm and it was even lower later while the tv reports were of unbearably hot conditions in much of England, The main photo is of the dog roses and foxgloves on the way up from the car park.
