Jam packed day in Glasgow
It was rather lovely to not have an early morning dog walk but it was still an early start as we needed to be in Glasgow before 12. We had breakfast and were en route just after 10. Light traffic meant we were parking at Oran Mor by just after 11. My friend Linda then checked the tickets and we realised I’d misread the timings online and we were 2 hours early! Still it was a nice day and we had time to look round the glass houses on the botanic gardens.
We headed over to Oran Mor after 12 and got our seats for the first day of the summer pantomime. Included in the ticket price was a pie and a drink. We ladies opted for a white wine spritzer to accompany our scotch (minced beef and lamb) pies whilst the gentlemen enjoyed a pint of beer with their pies.
The pantomime was wonderful, lots of typical dad jokes and a great Scottish cast which made for a very fun hour long entertainment.
We then headed towards the Buchanan galleries car park as Stuart and Linda wanted a quick look at the crockery sale in John Lewis. We then walked over to the high street to a photography studio to view an exhibition. It was shut. Opening hours were Wednesday to Sunday but it gave us the opportunity to enjoy a lovely cup of coffee in a small independent coffee shop.
After collecting the car we drove over to the south side to have dinner in Oro restaurant before our evening entertainment of an Americana duo from Canada in the Glad cafe. The food was amazing and very innovative. My arancini made with black rice and accompanied by a truffle mayonnaise was amazing.
The cafe had a very small frontage but opened up at the back into a small theatre. The female singer Suzanne had a very haunting voice which she used to good effect whilst also playing the double bass. Her husband also sang and played guitar, banjo and harmonica. Not all at the same time!
Home by 11.30 and just time for a small plate of cheese and biscuits.
Thank you so much for comments, stars and hearts for my 2000th blip on Monday. You have made me very humbled and proud to be on the first page of the popular pages.
Really liked this tiny orchid. Thanks to sk for hosting TinyTuesday this month.
