Flying-leap

By flying

Wow!!!

....it was the beautiful song of the Bellbird Korimako which woke us, so close to our house, a sound which is very rare in our garden, music to our ears.

The Bellbird Korimako is a medium sized forest bird. During mid winter it sometimes visits our gardens to feed on insects, spiders and nectar from flowering bushes and trees. The last few days there's been several flitting around our garden and neighboring gardens. A dark bird which likes to hide amongst the inner branches, it's quick in movement and is gone in no time. I was so fortunate to be ready to reel of just three shots before it flew away. Feeling so humble having this beautiful bird visit our garden.

Happy Matariki - Maori New Year :)
