Wound up in Wexford

No mow June

We missed No Mow May, but early in June we got J back to lay a new wire for Husky, and our plan is to gradually develop this into a meadow.  Initially it is simply not being mowed, and as you can see, has a profusion of buttercups and white clover.

In the autumn, we'll mow, remove the cuttings to reduce the fertility, scarify well, and scatter some more interesting seeds for meadow plants, including plenty of yellow rattle.  It won't develop as quickly as the meadow we had created in Norfolk, but with care it will hopefully become more interesting over a few years.
