857 day of war
Hi, friends!
This week, the entire country has been following the scandal surrounding a deputy who is the godfather of the current head of the President's Office. It all started when this deputy, with armed security, illegally detained a former serviceman and war veteran in one of Ukraine's cities. This behavior is unacceptable in principle, but considering that we are now in the third year of the war, it has a significant impact on society. Due to the widespread public outcry, the authorities had to pay attention to this matter.
When a country is fighting for its right to exist, people who think they can avoid punishment for their criminal actions because of their connections are exactly what the country needs to get rid of.. I have been thinking about what is wrong in the country, and it seems to me that the biggest problem is not even corruption but the lack of the rule of law.
Since childhood, I remember that all problems could be solved through "the right people." Whether it was getting a good job, sending children to a prestigious school, dealing with fines, or obtaining certain documents – all of this could be done quickly and conveniently if you had the right contacts. Now I realize that this is fundamentally wrong because it creates people who think they can do whatever they want without consequences.
In such matters, only public outcry helps, otherwise, all these cases are forgotten over time, and no one is held accountable for their actions. Currently, the authorities have been forced to pay attention to this case, and an investigation and searches are underway with this deputy. We are all watching this case and hoping for a fair trial and that this person will resign.
Meanwhile, the country is experiencing increasing problems with electricity due to constant shelling and summer heat. Every day, we have schedules for power outages by city districts, but the schedules are being followed less and less. This brings the most problems because there are things that cannot be done without electricity, and when there is no certainty about when it will be turned on or off, it is very difficult to plan the day. Also, when the power is turned off so often, there is almost no work, so now all we can do is earn through my dyeing and Nastya's embroidery.
We are currently preparing for a trip next weekend, and I am trying to finish all the tasks before then. It increasingly feels like this is my last trip somewhere. In a few weeks, the deadline for updating data at the military registration office will end. It is hard to imagine what will happen in a few months, but the prospect of joining the military is becoming more real every day, and it seems there is no other way out.
Next week, I hope everything goes well, and we will successfully reach Yaremche, where we can hike in the mountains over the weekend and take many beautiful photos. By the way, this photo is from our trip last year; this time, we will go to a neighboring village.
Thank you all for your support! No matter how difficult it is now, I believe that everything will be fine over time. Also, thank you for your support on Buy Me a Coffee; it helps a lot right now.
