Bones

Today it was wet, but we had a wet weather plan.

In the morning we had an extensive hotel breakfast followed by a swim in the pool.

In the afternoon we went to the World Museum which was excellent and a full afternoon out. We started off in an immersive art/music/science exhibit about bees (a recent school topic for CyclopsJnr) and we later saw a short film about the solar system in the planetarium. In amongst these things we enjoyed galleries about dinosaurs, Ancient Egyptians (a previous school topic for CyclopsJnr), space, and insects. We also went to their small aquarium, and (pictured) this fantastic hands-on exhibit where you could touch a lot of bones and similar - this was a hippo's skull.

CyclopsJnr then said he'd like to swim again, and MrsCyclops said that'd be fine but CyclopsJnr would surely be too wiped out after that to go out to a restaurant for dinner? So we had the idea to get a room-picnic from Tesco to have after the second swim of the day. The room-picnic was purchased pre-swim and we swum until about 7pm at which point CyclopsJnr predictably flopped.

The room-picnic worked perfectly and we ended up eating it in our hotel bathrobes and staying up late in front of the Germany-Denmark Euros match which was companionably fun.
