Midnight Storm
Last night’s thunderstorm turned out to be quite spectacular, not just at the football match in Dortmund. Around midnight, the sky started to light up with a constant fireworks of lightning. It became almost as bright as daylight for over an hour, just a never ending barrage of lightning, obviously very high in the clouds; with a constant rumble of thunder. The usual “flash - counting seconds - thunder” method of judging the distance was impossible, there was no distinction between individual flashes or thunderclaps.
Before the rain got too much, I tried to capture the strangely lit sky. The main blip, though grainy, is the best of the attempts. The extra shows another try, out of the bedroom window, after the rain had started.
Thankfully, there wasn’t much damage in the garden today; just some broken branches. We’re all tired after the night’s storm, and it’s still raining on and off, but B and I nevertheless went for our Sunday walk. We only got a little bit wet, and enjoyed the much cooler air.
