Shady

After a cooler night, today has heated up to a very humid 32°C. Thunderstorms are forecast for this evening and night, and all football-related outdoor events have been cancelled in our region. Even our heat-loving cats are looking for shade wherever they can. Rani found it under the peony.

I visited my mother in the slightly cooler Taunus hills, where we could sit outside in the shade for lunch and coffee. Frau G is back from her holidays in Northern Italy, with many stories to share.

When I drove home, I bought freshly picked cherries from a farmer’s stall along the road. Due to the late frost, many cherry trees didn’t bear fruit this year. Local cherries have become more expensive than ever, but the recent sunshine made them especially delicious.
