Artichokes

As Martin is working today, we had a short jaunt out to Newhailes Estate, so he could visit the chickens. As the chickens live in the Market Garden, you are getting a blip of ‘Violetta di Chioggia’ artichokes.

Now, I have no idea who these vegetables are named after, and the best I can find is that she had something to do with Italian royalty!

Anyway, just to say, weirdly, that artichokes are one of my favourite vegetables which I adore on pizzas with black olives and capers. Martin’s favourite pizza tipping is ham and pineapple … it’s just not right!
