Mouthful Waiting

Not quite sure what was going on here. This song sparrow waited patiently with a mouthful of food for quite a while. Periodically, the bird let out a muffled chirp, as if calling out for an offspring to come and get fed. But none showed up.

I had seen what looked like a fledgling here on a previous occasion. I wondered if my presence was off-putting and so I retired gracefully.

Side note: I see yesterday's photo reached popular page nine. Probably the only time one of mine has been popular. Moral of the story, take better shots!
