Benville Manor
I delivered my last set of leaflets today; if it wasn't the last set of leaflets I'm not going to accept any more as I think that we're well past Peak Leaflet and people might just be heartily sick of them.
But one of my addresses, for which I had a sealed envelope, not merely a leaflet, was Benville Manor. It has quite an interesting history, as the site of an attack by soldiers who suspected that the householder was hiding a Catholic priest. As it happened, the current owner, a Sebag Montefiore, was there to ask after my intentions; once he had established that I was a reasonable visitor we had quite a decent chat, even promising to meet sometime in the pub at the bottom of our hill.
