Reunion
We had our reunion this weekend: around 17 Tornado pilots and navigators from XV Squadron from 1986 to 1989 and a few of the wives – it's sometimes quite difficult for our (otherwise loyal) ladies to work up the same enthusiasm for a reunion, particularly from so long ago. Our dinner was in an Indian restaurant ("4500 Miles from Delhi") and you can see that we have finished one of the courses. It was great to see former colleagues from such a long time ago, but I'm glad that we were there for only the dinner, not the Friday evening drinkathon.
Our Boss from that time (a wing commander) gave a very short speech to thank us for our efforts to be there, but he had come all the way from New Zealand where he now lives. And the after-effects of throat cancer were evident in the loss of power to his voice. We had all suffered the ravages of time to some degree, I suppose.
I enjoyed the meal, but the restaurant was huge and very noisy. The food was not as plentiful as I had anticipated and the rice was a bit old. But the place accommodated around 35 of us and we had an area to be together; it worked out.
