Leftovers
The travelling today has gone like clockwork.
I left Saltburn just after 8.30 this morning on the Trans Penine train. Changed at Leeds, with half an hour to stretch my legs.
Onto the LNER south towards London, but I got off at Stevenage where Nicoiseannie was waiting for me just after 1pm.
We then had some lunch at a nearby garden centre where I got my blip of this little chap eating leftovers. I nearly lost the picture though, as my card reader had got wet in my handbag. I think my bottle of water must have leaked as some other bits were wet too. Anyway, I let it dry out for a few hours this evening and it seems fine now.
We managed to chat non stop of course for nearly four hours :-)
After checking into the hotel, son Greg and girlfriend duly arrived for the evening. He is 29 today, and it was originally going to be a surprise birthday celebration but we decided to include him in the organisation in the end so he could advise me on train journeys, where to eat etc.
One more girlfriend catch up coffee morning tomorrow, then back up north. Just a flying visit this time. A little weary now, so will catch up tomorrow.
(The train journeys tomorrow are an hour quicker, but with an extra change in Northallerton. Haven’t quite worked out how, no doubt it will make sense at some point)
