Friday: Eating Apple “James Grieve”

MrD set off on his motorbike after breakfast but was home by lunchtime, weather wasn’t particularly warm, around 15°C with gentle breeze and no rain.

After lunch we were looking at the apple trees, “James Grieve” and “Bardsey” eating apples have had erratic pollination - 6 apples together is very strange, I think we had very cold and wet weather when trees were in flower and no pollinators around :-(
I’ll prune “James Grieve” lightly when weather allows. The “Bardsey” was pruned lightly this afternoon, removing clumps of small apples and allowing single or pairs of apples to grow on, also reducing new growth of branches.

I’ve potted on half a dozen runner beans too, they’re in a very large pot of fresh homemade compost on the back of the greenhouse which gets lots of sun - fingers firmly crossed !!

Isle of Anglesey (Ynys Môn) now has a Member of Parliament who lives in Anglesey, she is bilingual (Welsh/English) and understands the issues affecting us all and will hopefully improve the current state of education and other particular aspects of our daily life :-))
