THE GREAT GATHERING

A very special day today - steam again !
This is the National Rail Museum in York, UK.
This is the Great Gathering !
This is the 6 out of 35 - now which ones to Blip !

This is the first time all 6 of the surviving A4 Pacifics have been together in the same place and the crowds were huge. These are 4-6-2 locomotives built to the same design by Sir Nigel Gresley.
The Great Gathering was created to mark the 75th Anniversary of Mallard's World Record Run on 3 July 1938.

This image shows the first three in this grand parade :
60007 - Sir Nigel Gresley - Blue - already featured on My Blips and built in October 1937.
60008 - Dwight D Eisenhower - Green - built in September 1937.
60009 - Union of South Africa - Green - built in June 1937.
60019 - Bittern - Blue - built in December 1937.
60022 - Mallard - Blue - built in March 1938.
60010 - Dominion of Canada - Garter Blue - built in May 1937.

I will try and add more images to My Blipfolio later.

Have been away from the cricket today. However it seems to be going to plan - England are far too complacent and many congrats to Ashton Agar, aged 19 years, who scored 98. This is the highest ever score by an Aussie playing at 11. More excitement to come!
Thanks for the invite Peter - grand to see you again.
