While on my runs

Juvenile male house sparrow

Showers discouraged Mr H and me from planting the five trees we got to replace those which had nor survived the long hot and dry months of February and March. There may also have been too much clay for those trees. I hope to get them planted tomorrow.

Late afternoon, I had a walk in nearby streets. Really not a lot of visible birds. Plenty can be heard, occasionally with a fleeting sight of a bird like the Immigrant from Australia; the eastern rosella.

I have often heard one or more grey warblers (Riroriro), and rarely seen any. I did wonder if this was a Riroriro. However, I think it is more likely to be a house sparrow than a Grey Warbler; the beak of the warbler is finer than this, as is that of the sparrow.
