Aoraki Mt Cook

Early rise to watch a bit more football.......the Motherland v Switzerland.  England seem to have (developed?) an uncanny ability to pull rabbits out of hats.  Even though the 75th minute Swiss goal had them all but heading home they were able to salvage a draw by scoring just 5 minutes later, though eventually things headed to the dreaded penalty shootout.  Boom! Amazingly they win it!  They're becoming quite the escape artists!

Semi final next......at a much more reasonable time too so that's good.

It wasn't really a cold morning......almost warm in fact, so after a couple of small must-do's in Twizel I decided that a drive to Aoraki Mt Cook would be in order.  I thought it would get colder the closer I got to the mountains but it actually got warmer.   Stunning weather which made an easy decision to stay at Glentanner Park tonight.  What a fabulous location - Mt Cook seemingly within touching distance though actually about 35kms away.  Think I might spend a few days up here so long as the weather stays good.

'Warm' though the day was (over 8 degrees I believe!) standing down at lake level watching the sun go down to take this was anything but warm........think it might be a chilly night tonight.
