A new dawn!

We went to bed after the first seat fell to Labour but got up in time to see the fall of Liz Truss, to my particular delight.   Cleared up and out of Studio - a little late (soz) and stopped to pick up Lobster brioche rolls from the Piece House in Dervaig and then went on to the Glass Barn in Tobermory to get some replacement chutney to take as a present for Rachel who has been watering my flowers.  I ate the first one.   We were very early for the ferry so pulled over to eat the rolls and watch the footage of Starmer arriving at Number 10.   A very interesting result as despite the landslide for Labour it was more lost by the Tories.  The opposition is going to be very fragmented.

Anyway - sailed over to Oban and stayed the night in what turned out to be a Dog Unfriendly hotel The Manor House.  So Woody was in the car and the only place they’d allow us even a cup of tea was in a tiny side conservatory packed with diving equipment.  So we cut our losses and went out for tea and then walked up to McCaig’s Tower the strange coliseum on top of the hill.  The things rich folk built for their towns!  There was a great view of the town up there.

Oban gardens are incredibly lush and we walked past several that were gorgeous ones with huge astilbes and ferns enjoying the damp but lovely roses and phlox too.  Even the run down houses had front gardens that spilled over with flowers (see extra with the geraniums). I really loved the sight of 4 young girls on a park bench, drinking caffeine drinks I think, but with a view of the ferry port.

We had a jolly dinner in the badly spelled Fishouse, also overlooking the harbour.  It was simple but nicely cooked local fish and was full of a very international crowd so it must be on various lists.

Walked Woody again until it got midge-y and then bundled him into the car and went in.
