View from the top

Well done us! 

Wol and Hannah, and Milly and I completed our respective races, which both started with a long climb up to the cairn on the top of Brownthwaite Brow and included a cruel finish with the steep ascent of the radical steps. 

There was a great atmosphere in the Royal Barn afterwards, where the runners cashed in their complimentary beer vouchers and modelled their 'Beyond The Lune' t-shirts.

The icing on the cake was that later in the afternoon we found that Wol and Hannah had won the 'Spirit Of The Lune' award, after they were spotted chatting and laughing while climbing the radical steps. 

In the evening, we had Abi's official birthday party, with everyone in attendance apart from Izzy who'd gone to a wedding. The Minx and I chatted in the kitchen as I made macaroni cheese and a birthday cake while the rest of the gang watched the England match on the projector set up in the living room. 

Despite it being a penalty win, the England victory ensured a fine finish to a glorious day.
