Scalloping along the edge of the patio

We are rather fond of fresh Dorset Scallops as supplied by Gerrard the Fish from his stall in Putney (the Portland Scallop Co). The shells have been collecting up somewhat and we have discovered a new use for them in covering flower beds and pots to help keep animals out, water in and the weeds down.
