Ulva
We went to Ulva for the day today and it turned out to be the most glorious, sunny, day of the holiday so far. It has been years since I was on Ulva, so it was great to be back. We chose to take the walk to Ormaig and the south side of the island, which took us past a standing stone, which is the main blip, and to a pair of standing stones (in extra).
I've been wanting to visit these stones for 20+ years! My undergraduate dissertation was on the standing stones of Mull. At the time I had hoped to include these Ulva examples in my study, but never managed to visit. So it was great to finally see them. I'm still fascinated by standing stones so I really enjoyed being able to finally see them. The whole walk was lovely with some fabulous views (second extra) and it was a warm day too.
Before heading back to the caravan we had a meal at the Glenforsa hotel. The hotel has a private airstrip so it's always a fun place to be. There were a few planes coming in while we were there and a group of pilots and passengers seemed to be meeting at the hotel for dinner. Not sure if they were staying the night or had just flown in for dinner! All in all it was a great day out!
