A Puzzle Of A Monkey Tree, East Peckham
Today I found out I'm going to made redundant from my job after 33 years. I had to go through a "matrix" scoring system where I found out I was below the "threshold". I pointed out various facts that could have reflected my "score" but know full well that it wouldn't make the slightest of differences.
I had to go through two Teams interviews (knowing full well it wouldn't make the slightest of differences - I was beginning to see a pattern!!). I know, and they know, and they know I know it was to do with my sickness record (I've struggled badly with my mental health) but they had distributed my various scores to ensure I couldn't possibly reach said "threshold". The horrible boss that I've had to deal with for decades is, I'm sure, glad that he's finally managed to shunt me in to the sidings. I knew it was all coming my way but it doesn't make me feel much better!
To cheer myself and my brother up we went for a pint in Addington and then on the way back we took a detour (unplanned) via Eat Peckham and that's where we spotted this amazing monkey tree (see also first extra for a detail of it). Strangely, I can't find anything out about it. It was a surreal end to a very depressing morning. The second extra I took because I just like the colours, shapes, forms, the plastic hanging off the car in the background and the general nowhere/everywhere feel of it.
I may well consume one to two glasses of wine too many this afternoon but, for once, I couldn't care less!
