Tough choices
I'm trying to be adult about this, but I'm not sure about this picture.
K and I saw this hawk on the ground as we were leaving on our ride - it's one of the parents that I watch a lot - the family of 3 lives near the velodrome. Anyway, once we realized he had something, I went back to my car for my camera.
In hindsight, I'm not sure why I did that. I love hawks, but I also love squirrels. I understand the food chain concept and I know everyone needs to eat. But now I have some awesome pictures that I can't really bear to look at because they make me so sad.
I picked the least graphic one and chose to post it in order to force myself out of my comfort zone - nature can be beautiful and tragic and it doesn't seem like good karma to enjoy one and not endure the other once in a while - and to pay homage to the squirrel. I hope he didn't suffer too much.
