Sea lavender

Last night there was a pretty sunset - not fiery red and striking, just softer pretty colours, so I went over to the Staithe at about 9pm and took some photos as the sun was setting. A lovely end to a warm day.

This morning was all change, it was grey, drizzling all day and misty. First thing this morning the builder came to discuss the work he is doing to add a shower to the family bathroom. There is a large cupboard in the passage outside the bathroom so it is an easy conversion to change that cupboard into a shower and knock through to the bathroom. He will start next week and hopefully be done in about 3 weeks. I was more concerned about him containing the dust and I think he realised I am a bit worried about that so he assured me everything will be covered up. Before we go home tomorrow we will move things out the way and pack away pictures from the walls where he will be working.

Gavin then had meetings all day so I went out for a walk with Xena. It was damp and mizzly, we did a 2 hour walk and came back feeling a lot warmer then when we first set out. It only reached about 16C today which is ridiculous for this time of year.

Gavin had a break at lunch time so we went to Thornham Deli to pick up some items for lunch - the plan was to get some tasty things like hummus, olives etc but they had nothing suitable. It used to be so good but the last time we ate there about a year ago the food was pretty awful and even their delicious cakes are not the best as they used to be (that accolade for this area goes to Two Magpies Bakery). We came back and picked up some seafood pots from the Crab Shack instead.

Later in the afternoon Gavin finally finished all his meetings so we went to Thornham as I knew the sea lavender would be in bloom. I did take some photos of the sea lavender with the coal barn but in the end this one of Xena made it as my blip today. In extras, the creek at Thornham at low tide, and an Oystercatcher. This silly Oystercatcher has made her nest on the bridge support leading from the car park over the creek to the beach, so everyone passes by that way and she gets upset every time someone walks past. There is a notice asking people to walk past quickly and not to linger, as she flies off the nest every time someone goes past. I peeped into her nest very quickly and saw a cute little fluffy chick plus about three more eggs. I did not linger to take a photo of the chick as I did not want to upset the mum further.
