Poppy field
We were up very early and managed to leave by 6.15am to drive to Norfolk. We left a bit earlier than usual as we stopped off in Cambridge to collect Adam's golf clubs from his home before he left for work. We will take his golf clubs in the car when we drive to Switzerland so he does not have to fly with them.
We also stopped off at a poppy field I had read about on social media, and I actually found a few fields in the area. I took many photos, close ups and wider views, but I liked this view across the fields with the threatening sky. It was cloudy and it did rain later in the morning, but by lunch time it was sunny and warm at 21C.
As it was sunny we decided to return to Houghton Hall so we could see the Antony Gormley exhibition called Time Horizon. One hundred statues dotted all over the estate at the same height above sea level. Apparently these human figures are modelled on Antony himself and are life sized. I don't think they are full casts sunk into the ground as the ground did not look disturbed - also, there is one inside the house and I doubt they cut through the centuries old stone flooring to erect it! Houghton Hall was built in 1722-35 by Sir Robert Walpole, the first de facto Prime Minister of Great Britain, and is considered one of the finest examples of Palladian architecture.
This afternoon was sunny and rather warm, I took Xena for a long walk while Gavin was working, and we both got a bit hot. All change tomorrow though with rain forecast.
