Stourhead
A lovely sunset last night after a fabulous meal at the Bayview restaurant. No disappointments with the food and I tried a local gin.
So a bright start to the day and after breakfast before leaving we headed to the main street to buy some pasties to take home to Bath for tea. We’ve been too full to have any, missed out on Devon Cream teas too - next time!
We crossed over the eastern end of Exmoor then drove down a bit of the north Devon coast through Combe Martin and stopped for a coffee at a beach cafe in a small cove just outside Ilfracombe - extra, before heading inland.
Across country to Stourhead, Wiltshire, another National Trust property I’ve always wanted to visit. One reason being the iconic view in the blip. We had a welcome cuppa and a cheese scone first, sadly no rhubarb and raspberry ones here, and then headed off through the gardens to walk around the lake.
A lovely warm and sunny afternoon. We will come back here and visit the house sometime as it’s only about 45 minutes south of Bath. Likewise we will take time to revisit Dunster Castle in West Somerset if we can.
Back in time to get the pasties on for tea.
Just done bath and bed time with the girls as Grace has gone to a rehearsal and John is at a leaving do.
We’ve really enjoyed our short break in the Exmoor National Park, the ladies at our hotel were so welcoming not surprising really as they both came from Yorkshire, we wouldn’t hesitate in returning there. Now it’s time for a different kind of fun!
