Roses and Hollyhocks
After a huge Norfolk breakfast we drove down to Blakeney, to pickup some crab sandwiches for lunch, from the stall on the Quayside. Also couldn't resist a punnet of local strawberries!
Had a walk along the Quay and round the village which is where I spied two lovely little cottages. One named after our youngest granddaughter and next-door one named after her mum. What a coincidence.
The gardens full of roses and hollyhocks.
Just had to be my blip for Flower Friday.
Here in Norfolk hollyhocks are everywhere. Even growing out of pavements and walls.
Just stunning.
We walked to Wiverton Hall and back for morning coffee.
Then to Warham where we had our picnic before walking to see Warham Camp Iron.Age Fort. Built over 2000 years ago by the Iceni people.
The massive earth banks and ditches were built from hard chalk to enclose a circular area of 1.5 hectares.
Today I was amazed by the profusion of wild flowers including Common rock rose, pyramidal orchids, wild thyme and marjoram, and scabious.

We finished off the afternoon with tea and cake at The Parlour tea rooms next to Binham Priory.
It is set in a beautiful 17th century converted barn. Shared a delicious piece of lemon and mascaponie cake
After it had been fine all day it started raining and hasn't stopped since.
Didn't dampen things though as we finished off the evening with a meal at our favourite Norfolk restaurant, The Moorings in Blakeney.
Back now and full to busting!
Should sleep well!
