Agapanthus
It has been a crazy busy day. I was up at 6am and changed and washed the bedding, then I had a few more loads of laundry - washing dog blankets etc as I don't like to leave the house when we go away with unwashed things like this.
I went to see a friend from the camera club at his house as I wanted to see and discuss a lens he has that I have been thinking about getting - I have been eyeing this lens for a while now, for wildlife photography but it is a big beast and I am not sure how I will handle it, so I wanted to feel it and see how comfortable it is. Still thinking about it...I never rush into a purchase! It saved me a trip to a camera store in London which was great.
Then on to the hairdresser, (which was not far from his house ),I needed to get my hair done before we go away tomorrow.
Back home again, (it took ages due to increased traffic from the M25 being shut for the third time this year as they install a new bridge over it) I had lunch and started packing. As we are going away for so long - about 6 weeks - there is so much to think about and pack. I had to work out Xena's food and pack all of that, then my camera equipment, and then my own clothing. I need a mix of clothing as the weather in the mountains changes all the time, plus I need golf clothes, hiking clothes and some smarter wear as we have tickets to the annual music festival concerts. It has taken me all day!
I now have to prepare breakfast for the journey - overnight oats which is our favourite - then lunch - this time I am making a salmon salad with rice, quinoa, edamame beans, shredded veggies and a miso dressing. We prefer our own food to buying stuff at the motorway services in France which is not nearly as good as the ones in the UK. Oh and then I must make supper. It has been non stop all day!
Today in my home town of Durban in South Africa, Ireland are playing SA in a test rugby match and a few members of my family are watching the match at Kings Park (I won't mention the result). Tomorrow of course is a big day for sport with the Wimbledon Mens' Final and then I think there is a certain football match being played..?! If England wins I expect Gareth Southgate will get an OBE or MBE, I never understand why people get these prestigious awards for just doing their jobs.
I had a quick whirl around the garden and the agapanthus is starting to bloom. It's a pity I will miss it in full flower as by the time I get back it will probably all be over. I will miss seeing my garden.
Now back to my jobs....
