Avoiding Unholy Alliances
As we gathered at FBC this morning to join our hearts to offer praise and worship to God, we were constantly being reminded by the media that we live in a fallen world where evil abounds through the reports of a shooter who tried to disrupt our elections by firing at one of the presidential candidates at a rally. By the grace of God, he did not succeed in killing his target who turned his head at just the right moment and suffered only a minimal attack, but it was a wake up call, that our world needs Jesus more than ever and that we need to be diligent to do what God has called us to do to point people to Him. We began our service with a congregational song followed by a welcome and prayer by Pastor Wes. That was followed by a rousing Southern gospel song from our favorite men's group, Aire To The Throne. The congregation then joined hearts and voices in a few more songs before Pastor Wes led us into 2 Chronicles, where we find a good king making a bad choice. Jehoshaphat was a good king, as we learned in the previous chapter. He wanted to do right and lead his kingdom in a Godly way, but was enticed by King Ahab, who came from a lineage of evil rulers and did not serve the one true God, but worshiped idols and did whatever he had to do to get his own way. Ahab enticed Jehoshaphat to make an alliance with him when Jehoshaphat knew it was wrong. The important thing we learn from this experience of the two kings, is not to do a wrong thing because you think it will work out right in the end. Pastor Wes laid out all the details quite clearly in the Live-stream and how we should apply this scripture to our lives today, AT3 blessed us with one more song during the offertory. In case some of the pictures in the collage made you curious, at the end of the service several people helped with the huge task of clearing the stage, because we are getting new carpet that will be safer for all who use the platform regularly......
