Earlier that same Day
After a lazy breakfast, with CMC fanning me with the FT and popping morsels of buttered kipper into my mouth, our visitors departed for a grey and misty Yesnaby. CMC and me drew the very short straw and departed for a meeting with the Royal Bank in Kirkwall for a large transaction for the Hoy Kirk. Neither of us was looking forward to the process but the young girl who served us acquitted herself very well indeed. And we told her. Back at base we had a surprise visit of Neil, who said he had come to first foot us! He used to have his cattle on our land and he’s not visited for a long time. It’s a shame our visitors weren’t present as he talks very Orcadian. He is always accompanied with a translator. We assembled late afternoon with the women folk trying to talk us into Canasta. I am still recovering from a drubbing in Islay many years ago. Ditto Oldmeldrum.
