Gently down the stream

Meadow Brown

A different day today - no walk, but with the Big Butterfly Count well underway I have had my 15 minutes in the garden watching for butterflies.  In previous  days I've seen none there, despite all last summer's butterfly-friendly planting, but today was different.  I saw a large white, a red admiral, also a gatekeeper.  However, this meadow brown (ID suggested by Diane2104 instead of Ringlet and I think she's right) was just over the fence in the rather wild garden next door.  Perhaps I shouldn't include it in my count?

J is away with Duke for most of this week.  As he was getting ready this morning, Duke became very concerned he might be left behind.  I caught him with his huge body squashed into the armchair on top of all the clean washing I'd just returned.  Dogs are so funny, aren't they..

Hopefully we're going to have better weather for the rest of this week.  I'm already planning my blip-time ;))

Enjoy your evening  xx
