I saw a Lizard!
I think it is common lizard, though that is not saying a lot since it is the only one I have seen in all my 62 years of life. They can't be that common, can they? Since first posting I changed the main image as I realised I had posted a different shot than I had intended to...
I've been wanting to see one for a while and today we went back to Hartsholme Park where Bri spotted two on Tuesday. I think one of the reasons I had not seen them is that they are much tinier than I was expecting. This one is no more than 12cm long.
We watched it for a little while and then had a little walk around Hartsholme Park before going to do some shopping in Morrison's. Home to chill out a while.
There's an extra of the lizard. The other is a spider egg cocoon. I was intrigued by this structure with all the vegetation within and decided to Google image search it. I wished I hadn't. Apparently it is the cocoon of a Nursery Web spider. There was an image of the NWS that made me move far away in case it came back to check on its offspring... They too will probably grow up to be big, strong looking spiders...
