Mdina
I took a trip on the bus to Mdina, a fortified city which served as Malta’s capital for a large chunk of the island’s history. At the bus station, an old British dude who sounded like he was from Nottingham was advising me on how to spend a day on scenic routes around the island. ‘Get number XXX to XXX, have a bit of lunch then come back on the number XXX.’ Old dude, you are quite literally my life goal.
Mdina was very unique and picturesque, with lots of nice alleys to get lost in. I arrived fairly well before the staggering hordes. Although when they did arrive they had a habit of circling and swamping the lone traveller as he gazed peacefully over the arid farmland from a sun-baked rampart. Such is life I suppose on a very crowded island.
